Wrangling the Pediatric Vasculitis Database

Childhood antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody associated vasculitides (AAV) are a collection of rare and life-threatening inflammatory diseases. To enable research on AAVs in children, the Pediatric Vasculitis Initiative (PedVas) has started an international collection of clinical data and biological samples.  The current PedVas database includes information on 1760 clinical variables for 372 children affected with one of the AAVs. Given the very raw nature of this data collection, an initial challenge will be extracting, processing and summarizing relevant variables. The work involved in this project will consist of developing programming scripts to automate these processes.
