Using Administrative Data for Epidemiological Studies
Administrative health data are routinely collected for healthcare system evaluation and hospital billing. While the data are often used for research purposes, there are many scientific challenges. The seminar will cover the following topics using hypertension surveillance, treatment and outcomes as an example. 1) How have the ICD coded administrative data been used for research? 2) What are the challenges and solutions for using administrative data for epidemiological studies? 3) Brief introduction of works related to ICD-11, electronic health record data and SPOR.
