The Department of Statistics & Actuarial Science is seeking applications for the following position:

Qualifications for TA/TM Positions in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science:

  • In all requested courses, sufficient knowledge to properly interpret course material and ability to explain course concepts.  For Statistics Workshop appointments, this means demonstrable familiarity with the methods and concepts in the courses supported by the Workshop in the semester of the appointment.  These may include any of STAT 100, 201, 203, 205, 270, 302, and 305.
  • Competence in oral and written English
  • For undergraduate applicants, a grade of B- or better in STAT 330 is preferred
  • For External applicants: Candidates from other disciplines should provide evidence of successful completion of sufficient course work in Statistics for the position they are applying for. Evaluation of the adequacy of this qualification is at the Course Instructor/Workshop Coordinator's discretion.

TA/TM's must be available to invigilate exams.

Duties, Responsibilities and Term of the Appointment:

TA/TM duties and scheduled hours will vary depending on the type of the assignment.

Applicants are expected to be available for the entire term of the contract. Appointees must discuss in advance any planned absences with the course instructor or the Workshop Coordinator who will determine if an exception is possible. In the case of taking courses potentially conflicting with TA/TM's responsibilities or having any other restrictions on the work time, appointees have to contact the course instructor or the Workshop Coordinator immediately upon becoming aware of the potential conflict to ensure a full understanding of the requirements of the TA/TM-ship.
